Movies that I hated from the past 10 years that need to be avoided.

Today’s blog is about movies that I have seen over the past 10 years that are terrible and need to be avoided at all costs.

1. Catwoman (2004) This Halle Berry movie is so bad that I cannot think any of any positives except for the eye candy for guys who are Halle Berry fans since Halle Berry is in a skimpy tight black leather catsuit. This guilty pleasure is even weak if you know that you can get Halle Berry eye candy and more in Swordfish and Monster’s Ball. Worst movie I have seen in the past 10 years.

2. Armageddon (1998) I am a huge fan of action movies and Michael Bay movies (Transformers, directed by Michael bay is a great action movie which I recommend seeing in theatres) but Armageddon is so loud, long, badly edited, and murky in its effects scenes on the asteroid that I got a headache just trying to watch the movie.

3. Stealth (2005) Some cool action but the story is cliched and unbelievable despite weak attempts to justify the plot. One point is especially unbelievable is that the planes can fly all around the world without crashing or needing to land for maintenance. I admit that I forget where they travel to in this movie but that shows how forgettable the movie is. The plot is a horrible combination of Top Gun and 2001: A Space Odyssey (the reference is that there is a talking super-intelligent stealth plane in the movie called EDDI, where as in 2001 it was a super-intelligent space station).
My Advice: See Top Gun and 2001: A Space Odyssey and avoid Stealth at all costs!

4. The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (2003) This has got be one of the worst sci-fi movies in the past 4 years. Too bad it stars Sean Connery in the lead role for what may be his last film.
My advice: If you want to see a good science fiction film with Sean Connery see Dragon Heart or Highlander.

5. Epic Movie (2007) I admit to not seeing this movie yet but its made by the same people who made Date Movie (2006) which I saw and was a terrible comedy and spoof on romantic comedies. After reading reviews on the film and talking with a friend who saw the movie I recommend avoiding this piece of junk, which is comedy and spoof on the most recent blockbuster movies (Chronicles of Narnia ,Pirates of the Caribbean, etc.) and sounds equally bad.

My advice: For a good comedy on DVD and in theatres this year, rent Reno 911: Miami. It may not be your kind of movie and who may not like it but it is as good as the TV show it is based on, great comedic situations and it is funny throughout.

If you do not like or want to see Reno 911: Miami, then see Knocked Up (directed by Judd Apatow), or wait to see the new Adam Sandler movie called The Adventures of Chuck and Larry (coming out next Friday July 20), or Superbad (written by Seth Rogen, the male lead from Knocked Up) coming out in August.

Other good DVD comedy rentals: (Scary Movie 3 or 4, if you want a decent comedy and spoof on movies, Borat, and Tallegeda Nights) if you do not like Reno 911: Miami.
